Avon Kennels is located just outside of Somerdale Ohio, We are a small, family operated facility, that is both an ODA licensed (license # CB0014Q4) and an AKC inspected kennel; breeding is a passion for us as we love our furry family members. We believe our pets are a part of our family and treat them as such. We have a small 16 acre farm with lots of room for our pet kids to run and play. We currently breed AKC Labrador Retrievers, AKC French Bulldogs and CFA registered Persian/Exotic Short Hair cats. We started our breeding program with the Rottweilers in 2000. As a very young child, I was introduced to Rottweilers as my grandparents owned and bred them for years. I was always intrigued by the breed and amazed at how loving and loyal they actually are. In 2007 we decided to expand our family to add the Labs as they were always our second breed choice. Unfortunately, in 2017 we made the very difficult decision to retire all of our Rottweilers due to the challenging adoption process for the particular breed. We added the Himalayan cats and kittens to our family in 2016, and just recently in 2021 decided to add the Frenchies to our ever growing fur family. Our puppies and kittens are raised as a part of our family with daily socialization with adults as well as children. All of our puppies are AKC registered, and all of our kittens are CFA registered. We breed for health, temperament and conformation. We believe in breeding for quality not quantity. All of our females are bred with careful consideration, and we do not believe in over breeding any of our females. For this reason we have a limited number of litters per year and strongly suggest you reserve your puppy or kitten in advance to ensure a puppy or kitten from the litter of your choice.
We breed AKC Labrador Retrievers of all colors, we are a small family run facility and focus on quality not quantity. We have a limited number of litters per year and do not believe in over breeding our females. All of our puppies are born and raised with daily socialization from adults as well as our children. It is our mission to better our breeding program with each breed and to produce quality, healthy puppies for you to love for years to come. All of our puppies are AKC registered and current on all vaccinations and deworming prior to going home with their new families. Our puppies will come home with their AKC registration papers, Reunite Microchip, a toy with the litter scent to help them with the transition, health records, treat samples and a lifetime of breeder support. We keep food on hand that can be purchased from us when you pick your puppy up, or you can click on our TLC Puppy Food page under the nutrition tab and order your food in advance. We believe that the puppies are a part of our family and continue to support their health and growth far beyond the eight weeks they spend here with us. We encourage all of our new families to keep in contact with us through updates and pictures and continue to provide all of the support you could need to get your new puppy adjusted and relaxed in your home as quickly as possible.
For 31 straight years Americans demonstrated their love for Labrador Retrievers by making them the most popular purebred dog breed in the USA. The sturdy, well-balanced Labrador Retriever can, depending on sex, stand from 21.5 to 24.5 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 60 and 95 pounds. The standard coat colors are black, yellow and chocolate. Labrador Retrievers that express the dilution gene "dd" are recognized and registered by the American Kennel Club "AKC" based on their foundation genetic colors black, yellow or chocolate. The head is wide, they eyes glimmer with kindness, and the thick, tapering "otter tail" seems to be forever signaling the breeds innate eagerness. Labs are famously friendly. They are companionable housemates who bond with the whole family, and they socialize well with neighbor dogs and humans alike. But don't mistake his easy going personality for low energy, the lab is an enthusiastic athlete that requires lots of exercise, such as swimming, running and fetch, to keep physically and mentally fit.
The French Bulldog (Frenchie) is a handsome, cheerful and affectionate little dog who loves belly rubs and cuddles, games and stunts, and who thrives on human interaction. Goofy, sweet, free-spirited and joyful, the French Bulldog is a natural born comedian who will gladly fill the house with giggles and laughter. The French Bulldog has a strong confident demeanor, a well-proportioned muscular body, round dark eyes, large upright bat ears and a smooth fine coat. Small in stature, the uniquely charming French Bulldog has an average height between 11 to 13 inches and an average weight between 22 to 28 pounds. Proud and confident in appearance, this dog has a strong, muscular, well-proportioned body paired with a flat, uniquely adorable face and a broad deep square-shaped muzzle. They have a black or light-colored nose, dark round eyes set wide apart, and large upright bat ears. Their eyes are usually dark but there are also some with blue eyes. Their size can be classified between small and medium according to their breed standard. The Frenchie coat is short, smooth, shiny, low shedding and can come in various colors and color combinations. AKC French Bulldog colors are fawn, white, and cream with combinations of these colors. Patterns that the AKC accepts include piebald, black masks, brindle, and brindle piebald. There are also quite a few rare colors that exist within the breed. The French Bulldog is a laid-back, quiet, well-mannered, and relaxed dog who loves nothing more than to be pampered and spoiled. They are only vocal when they need to alert their human family to something important. With a great love for attention, belly rubs, and cuddles, Frenchies thrive when they are included in all family activities. Their sweet nature is one of the best qualities they have that can make them quite amazing therapy dogs. The French Bulldog is a fun, moderately active dog known to enjoy a good skateboard ride, a game of fetch and even a good game of hide and seek. Kind, sweet and affectionate, these dogs are popular for being very careful and patient around toddlers and children of all ages.
